UNITEN’S PAK GUARD
If you are very familiar with UNITEN then you must have observed the glaring differences between then and now-security services. Those days the security services is taken cared by TNB own Benteng Utama staff. Now, for reasons best known to the management, this service is outsource to the private company. I don’t intend to commend the services of the two, the Benteng Utama and the Outsourced. Rather I would like to touch on the current pathetic service by the private firm.
Wonder how this firm won the contract. If you drive through the main entrance you would not miss the guards seated lazily among them , or sometimes alone as though their butts are gummed to the seats. If they know some one big is coming, then only then started doing things implying that they are working as expected. This is in comparison WORLD APART compared to MMU securities. Every car entering and leaving the campus will have to let the car scrutinized for inspection. I wonder why the guards at UNITEN are employed if their presence are purely to occupy space!
Now in the name of modernisation at the entrance is installed the auto bar which open and close remotely or after identifying one’s ID. Great! But only the idea. For staff and students of Uniten , they have to touch the ID card in order to get in and out of campus. For visitor like me, I have to stop for the guard to lift the bar automatically. Well, so doing even get the guards to get fed up. Eventually creativity creeps in. Many a time one will not miss to see the bar being TIED to the grill by a raffia rope! Why? Pak Guard dah malas nak tekan remote control gamak nye.
I am perplexed with this situation. Why do we need these half past six security men? They have no self pride in their job and take up this job as this is the one and only available t them, I guess
One day after tennis I was riding home on my VIRAGO. The bar was closed. I approached. The guard pointed to the side lane which was meant for motorbikes. The small lane is blocked by two cones with a small bar on top of them. Kapcais (sorry err mat motor) could go through , through a bit of squezzing. The not so clever guard expected me to do same. OK FINE! Expect me to use the lane, yes but expect me to squeeze through , NO! Headed towards the two cones, increase the speed, rev the engines and vvvvRRRRRRROOOMMMMMM I blasted through , hammering the small tine bar and the two cones, leaving them all scattered all over . I picked up speed and vrrooooommmmm home. Of course I never bother to see what happened behind me or what the guard was actually doing there after. Good right? At least the guard learn to do new things that day .....
